Canterbury

Welcome to Fresh Networking – Canterbury Hub

Located in Melbourne’s leafy inner east, the Canterbury Hub brings together business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs who value authentic connections and community. We believe networking should be structured yet relaxed, with genuine relationships at its core—not hard selling.

Our members come from a wide range of industries, including finance, property, health, marketing, and consulting. Together, we share referrals, ideas, and encouragement to help each other grow personally and professionally. Every meeting is designed to be purposeful but never dull—expect energy, laughter, learning, and real outcomes.

Canterbury’s culture is about collaboration over competition. We celebrate wins, support challenges, and create an environment where members feel inspired to contribute. The group thrives on openness, warmth, and a shared drive for success.

We meet fortnightly on Thursday mornings in a welcoming café setting, making it easy to start your day with inspiration and fresh opportunities. Guests are always welcome to experience what makes Fresh Networking so unique—an energising mix of connection, conversation, and collaboration.

Join us at Fresh Canterbury and discover a community where you can grow your business, expand your network, and enjoy the journey along the way.

Our Next Meeting

At each meeting, one of the hub members is the main speaker, and gives a 10-minute presentation.

They share their knowledge and insights, and help us get to know them and their business.

See who’s up next and what you’ll learn from their presentation.

Why Townhouse Developments Fail (and how to get it right)

Townhouse developments seem like a safe bet - but many fall short in how they’re designed and lived in. I’ll unpack why, from planning constraints to common design pitfalls, and share what actually makes a project feel great to live in.

Key points
  1. Compliance doesn’t equal quality - meeting planning standards doesn’t guarantee good design. Many townhouses tick the boxes but still feel cramped, dark, and awkward to live in.
  2. Design is usually sacrificed first. With tight sites, budgets, and yield pressures, spatial quality such as light, volume, and flow is often the first thing compromised.
  3. Better design = better outcomes. Projects that prioritise livability - natural light, smart layouts, a sense of space - tend to perform better long-term, both as homes and as investments.
