Kathy Ismail is the Founder and Principal Architect at KiR Architecture, a Melbourne-based practice specialising in thoughtful, functional, and enduring residential and commercial spaces through architecture, interior design, and strategic project guidance.
With almost 20 years of industry experience, Kathy combines technical expertise, creative thinking, and practical problem-solving across residential renovations and extensions, commercial and hospitality fitouts, industrial projects, and sustainable design. She is passionate about creating spaces that balance strong design outcomes with the way people live and work.
Originally from Malaysia, Kathy founded KiR Architecture with a focus on collaborative, human-centred design. Her broader interests in endurance sport and travel continue to shape her approach to resilience, adaptability, and long-term thinking.
Kathy is also a Certified Passive House Designer with a strong interest in sustainable and high-performance buildings. She enjoys guiding clients through complex projects with clarity and confidence, from concept through to construction.
